I do sometimes see this type of thing. Weeks or more may pass before someone realises that a researcher’s statement was misleading.
Sometimes it’s simple carelessness by the researcher – a rush to write something of potential interest, without considering the wrongness of the writing.
When I see such things repeatedly, I begin to wonder about unconscious bias or (worse) conscious ulterior motives.
This is one of the reason why publish everything we do. we don’t want someone to listen to us just because we say so, we want them to listen to us because of our research. you shouldn’t have a need to trust us, you should have a way to verify our claims.
