Private NAS backup

I have a QNAP NAS with currently about 3 TB of data, continuously growing. Right now, I use Cryptomator for three separate containers of personal documents. Family photos and multimedia are unencrypted because encryption would lead to problems. I have two external hard drives that I use to create offline backups about once a month, and store one of them offsite at a friend’s house.

I would like to create daily automated versioning backups, and would rather it be automatic than having to plug in a drive every night. So I was thinking about employing a cloud service. Furthermore, I am considering replacing the QNAP NAS with an Ubuntu server to run my own instances of NextCloud and JellyFin.

I would love to hear your suggestions.
