Privacytools.io services status page?

Could there be a (automatic?) status page somewhere as Privacytools.io has multiple services?

I have been wondering a few times today if the Matrix instance is down or if it’s just me and there doesn’t seem to be any place where I could get confirmation or denial to that.

I guess this would go better to Privacytools.io service suggestions or feedback category if such existed :wink:.

yeah its good suggestion (never thought about it tho :joy: ) but you can do ping cmd (until they release the status page)

I think Privacytools.io is configured to block ping, or does it work for you?

You did give me an idea of checking https://chat.privacytools.io/_matrix/client/r0/directory/room/%23general%3Aprivacytools.io though and it loads even if a bit slowly, but my Riot still keeps claiming it’s offline seems to have finally told me what is the unread message it didn’t want to tell me about before.

well, i found another way! (its maybe bad website for privacy but you can use with tor!) https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/forum.privacytools.io.html & https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/privacytools.io & for some-bad reasons it can not access to chat.privacytools.io so yeah your main goal did not fixed yet :3 (about checking if riot server down or no) & yes ping cmd not work with me too! (first time to see this kind of websites, google even allow ping)

Yeah, we’ll create a status page, it’s on our roadmap. You can check https://chat.privacytools.io:8448/_matrix/client/versions to see if Matrix is online, it should return a JSON result like:

{"versions": ["r0.0.1", "r0.1.0", "r0.2.0", "r0.3.0", "r0.4.0"], "unstable_features": {"m.lazy_load_members": true}}

want one for forms bc i saw it down from somedays

But what if the status page is down? dun dun duuun. Either way, it might also be nice to look into if we can also post notices on the status page, so for example planned maintenance or migrations. is embedding Mastodon post a thing yet? I mean that we could just post them on Mastodon and put them on the page.

Haha. We’ll host it on another server and probably another domain.

Just found this, so is it a thing? In my opinion, you should definetely go for it!

I have seen https://cachethq.io/ being used at times.

Some alternatives I just found include:

Maybe you could put a link to it in https://www.privacytools.io/services or in https://www.privacytools.io?

Also (if possible) also add the Mastodon account instead of just Twitter!

looks great !!!
