Matrix, GPG, etc. Public Key Thread

Since we have a Matrix room (#general:privacytools.io), this forum, and a growing number of other services, I thought it might be nice to have one place you all can post various encryption keys in case you want to get in touch with other members or members of the team.

I’ll start with posting my Matrix public encryption keys here, feel free to reply here with your own Matrix/Signal/GPG/whatever keys you think might be useful for others to know are linked to your forum account  (And feel free to sign your message with GPG if you’d like, so we don’t have to trust this forum software, as nice as it is).

Also, my Keybase and GPG key!

You can find your Matrix keys (on Riot desktop) by clicking your profile picture in the top-left, “Settings”, and “Security & Privacy”. While you’re there, if there’s any devices listed there you no longer use, you can remove them

I am not willing to duplicate information that is not static, so please refer to Mikaela.info/keys.

The page itself contains no signatures, but you can view git commit signatures them at:

and verify them by yourself by git cloneing either repository and running git log --show-signature pages/keys.markdown .

You can add my PGP key to your local keychain with this:
curl https://keybase.io/nikolal/pgp_keys.asc | gpg2 --import

Edit: made it into preformatted text

any slick way of appending pub gpg deets in our profiles vs. using a thread for distribution? @jonah @burunghantu

@mackie45 well I suppose the about me section (probably) doesn’t have a character limit in your preferences… I mainly just created this thread to have a one-stop place to search for keys though.

@jonah that could certainly work, i suppose i was just curious if there were any add-ons for Discourse that would allow for a more organized + easier way to find a users keys

As of this day of June 2nd, 2019, these are the digital certificates that I have in service.

My root key, which is marked as the "Umbrella Signer" certifies all of my genuine OpenPGP Digital Certificates, which in turn certify subkeys and are used for other tasks. The Umbrella Signing Key is not used for anything else and only certifies my own keys, including my long-term personal key.

My long-term personal key, which has my E-mail address has separate subkeys for signing, encryption, and authentication, and is certified by my umbrella signing key. It is used for E-mail and general correspondence. The Encryption subkey on this key may be rotated periodically for forward secrecy, and old copies destroyed, so please refresh my keys prior to sending.

At this moment I do not have keys published on the Web Key Directory. You may obtain my public keys via a tor-accessible hidden service at hkp://jirk5u4osbsr34t5.onion . Please note that since keyservers by design allow anyone on the internet to write any data to the keys held on a keyserver and will not check to see if the data appended to them was actually signed by the keys it purports to be from, the the integrity of data that the keyserver's WebUI displays, including fingerprints, revocations, expirations, or user idenities should always be considered untrustworthy. The only trustworthy place suitable for viewing key data is in your computer's keyring.

Please note that one of the keys at dev.gnupg.org that was used to sign my key transitioning statement was never published to keyservers, and gnupg will report a “missing public key” error for this reason. The “missing public key” error for the now-destroyed NIST-521 key may be safely disregarded, however, some graphical frontends to GnuPG may err on the side of caution and report nasty “this message is not secure!” errors. When in doubt, utilize the commandline tools for GPG.

Check out your user profile settings! There’s now a place to input GPG fingerprints and Matrix usernames. Let me know if there’s any other fields that should be added.
