This news for people who’s love cloudflare DNS

I saw this yesterday in the Linus channel and I wanted to hear the forum thoughts, about it, but then I realised this is a Cloudflare project so it has to be really privacy invasive since you are giving out your whole traffic to them. It would be a good idea if it would respect your privacy.

Yup, but for people who love cloudflare, its huge happy news

A good service for people who don’t understand what a VPN is and who don’t value their privacy.

This app has access to:

Location

  • approximate location (network-based)
  • precise location (GPS and network-based)

Storage

  • read the contents of your USB storage
  • modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

Wi-Fi connection information

  • view Wi-Fi connections

Photos/Media/Files

  • read the contents of your USB storage
  • modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

Other

  • receive data from Internet
  • view network connections
  • full network access
  • prevent device from sleeping
  • run at startup

Most likely this app requires Google Play Services, which compromises security as it has been called a rootkit by some. I agree as it allows Google access to your phone.

It doesn’t hide your IP address.

Hidden trackers in the app? Yes.

If people want faster DNS resolution at the expense of their privacy, this is fine, but if people think they are getting a VPN, that is misleading marketing. I would recommend RiseUP VPN app which is opensource and available on FDroid here

they said in their blog its not VPN (does not hide your IP but it still encrypts your net traffic)
